Stumbled onto this today, by William Hazlitt:

“The art of life is to know how to enjoy a little and to endure very much.”

Then read up on him and discovered these as well:

“He will never have true friends who is afraid of making enemies”

and

“Hope is the best possession. None are completely wretched but those who are without hope. Few are reduced so low as that.”
