I’m pretty excited, because Canon confirmed today that they’ll be shipping out an EOS 30D to me for review. It’ll come with an 18-55mm zoom lens, which is actually going to act like a 28-88mm lens because of the 30D’s 1.6x focal length conversion factor which, being an EF-S lens, won’t be affected by the 30D’s 1.6x focal length conversion factor (thanks Erik!). So I’ll have that gorgeous camera for 30 days, and I’ll be sure to take lots of photos with it. Meanwhile, I’m saving up for an EOS 5D, and may be able to purchase one in a few months.
My blog readership is growing as well, and I don’t know yet if it has to do with my use of Twitter. At any rate, my thanks to all of the new subscribers!
Finally, I’ve just finished a review of the Fuji FinePix S9100, and I’ll likely submit it to BlogCritics tomorrow. After that, I’ll publish it here as well. While the review’s good (tooting my own horn, I know), the camera isn’t. Stay tuned for the details.

Yeah, I hear you. I’m looking at a couple of nice L-series lenses and a macro lens to go along with the 5D. That’ll cost a pretty penny, but such is life. I’m thankful that I live in the States and have a decent job. If I lived somewhere else, like back in Romania, where the average salary is about $400-500/month, there’s no way I could have ever afforded even the camera, much less the lenses. I’m blessed and I’m thankful.

I would imagine there will be a new 5D with the sensor cleaning before long, and looking at how Canon seems to do things, I guess it could happen before the year is out, or early next. For now they seem to be pushing the 30D and 5D with new bundles, and most of the talk seems to be about the 40D coming in the Autumn (if it actually does ever come out). The sensor cleaning would be great to have, but I’ve fallen in love with the 5D and don’t know if I could wait that long!

Hey Ben, glad to hear the good news from you! Say, have you heard if a new version of the 5D is coming in November, specifically one with sensor cleaning? I wish I knew, because then I’d wait. That’s a pretty important feature for me. It’s awesome that you’re getting the 5D as well. Full-frame sensor is the way to go for beautiful, clear images.

That’ll be nice to get your hands on the 30D, I had a go on one recently in my local camera shop and liked it a lot. Like you however, I have my eye on the 5D, I’m taking the plunge very soon in fact. My local camera shop is getting one sent over from another one of their shops that has stock that hasn’t been sitting on display. If I’m going to spend that kind of money I want one that hasn’t been touched by a sole outside of the Canon factory, but I might even have one very soon!
It’s an exciting week for photography with the new Zooomr just hours away, if I get my new camera soon too that will make me very happy indeed.
Oh, and one of these days I’ll need to sign up to twitter too…
