What can you do with corners?

Say you’re stuck inside but you’d love to use your camera and take some creative photos. What can you do? How about a play on lines and colors? You can use your very own walls and corners, and then you can manipulate the photos in editing to make them even more interesting. It’s a wonderful exercise in creativity. Here are some photos I took at home one evening, where I did this very thing.

At the Chevy Chase Village Circle

There are a couple of old churches at the Chevy Chase Village Circle, in the DC area. One is Presbyterian and the other is Catholic. Here are several photos I took of them, back in 2007.

On 17th St NW in DC

Here are a few photos taken on a DC street you may not know by name, but you may recognize once you see the photos (hint: it passes by the White House).

At the office

Here are a few photos of objects around my office, taken a few years ago. One of the photos has the exact date and time when it was taken written on it, but not in the typical way, where the camera imprints the text in the corner. I’ll let you see it for yourselves. Enjoy!

See the ColdFusion handbook in this photo? ColdFusion (by itself, without the Java layer recently shoehorned into it by Adobe) was and is the best programming language. It’s so high-level that a few lines of code can do what would otherwise take pages of low-level code in other languages. I find that very elegant.

Washington DC as seen from the top of the Washington Monument

Here’s how our nation’s capital looks if you climb to the top of the Washington Monument. It’s… monumental. I love the architecture and the way it’s been laid out. It is a pity that the ranks of the public servants have grown so much in recent times that certain government organizations no longer fit into the buildings originally designed for them. While some growth is understandable, there’s real, lasting value in the idea of a lean, simple government and a republic, not a democracy, as the US of A was originally created.
