Thoughts

Want to see what I did this summer?

If you’re curious to see how I spent my summer, watch this video (you can see it below). It’s Ligia and I, presenting our work. She wrote her fourth book (our third on raw food) and I did the design, layout, editing and photography for it.

The book is called “Deserturi pentru Parinti si Copii Sanatosi”; in English, that’s “Desserts for Healthy Parents and Children”. As you can imagine, it’s a book filled with yummy and healthy raw food desserts that your whole family will love.

The second book we show in the video is Ligia’s second book, which is now in its third edition. It’s called “Retete Vegane Fara Foc”; in English, that’s “Raw Vegan Recipes”.

The video’s in Romanian (and so are the books) but you’ll get the gist of it even without understanding the language. It’s short, sweet and to the point, and yeah, we spent the whole summer working on those two books. If you count all of the time spent on the book of desserts, writing and trying out the recipes, taking the photos etc., it comes to about a year’s work.

Part of that year’s work was finding a good print shop, one that can print at the highest quality possible, using only the best materials. We believe we found it, after a long search, and are very happy with the results. Both of the books we printed with them look amazing and are well worth the purchase.

Enjoy!

Ligia came up with an amazing Christmas recipe, another of her culinary masterpieces: raw eggnog and gingerbread cookies. This is the perfect two-for-one Christmas recipe, because it uses the same ingredients and the same process to give you two wonderful holiday desserts, saving you precious time during this busy time of the year.

This episode is highly recommended for those interested in healthy alternatives to traditional eggnog, which is loaded with unhealthy calories and fats.

This time around, I’m in front of the cameras and the episode is a bit more interactive than usual as a result. I’m interested to see what you think of it once you’ve watched it.

Enjoy and bon appetit!

Thanksgiving recipes from YouTube Next Chef

For those of you who want to keep up with the YouTube Next Chef and Next Trainer programs, YouTube publishes weekly wrap-up episodes, where they highlight what we’re learning and producing.

This week’s Next Chef video features Thanksgiving recipes and we’re thrilled to see that Ligia’s recipe was chosen as the video thumbnail and as the first recipe presented in the video. Austin and the rest of the friendly gang at YouTube, thank you! I know that next week, a different recipe and participant will be shown first, but it’s really nice to see they chose us this week. We worked hard on this particular episode, harder than on previous ones, and I’m glad our efforts were noticed.

Enjoy the video and in case I don’t get to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving again, let me do it right now:

Happy Thanksgiving!

Standard

Welcome to episode 20 of our raw food cooking show, Ligia’s Kitchen! It struck me a while back — about the time we started it, that a raw food cooking show is a contradiction in terms. After all, if it’s raw food, it isn’t cooked, but what else could we call it? A raw food uncooking show? Somehow that doesn’t have the same ring.

Ligia presents an original recipe in this episode, a Glazed Cranberry Cake, which is a great addition to any Thanksgiving feast. (You know what else would be a great addition to your Thanksgiving table? Spiced Apple Punch, naturally.)

Being raw foodists, our own feast will have no turkey or animal products, but I know we’ll be stuffed in the end just the same. And as I always like to point out to those who still eat traditional foods, you can eat raw foods till you burst and still not have the pounds to show for it, like you would after the usual holiday feasts. In my book, that’s a huge plus.

It’s fall, and it’s time for season two of Ligia’s Kitchen! We returned to action with episode 19, which presents a way to make delicious guacamole in about three minutes. Guacamole is a naturally raw recipe, and when eaten with raw vegan bread, it makes for a wonderful raw meal.

This episode was recorded in English, not Romanian, as has been the case so far. We did this for the sake of our international viewers. We also found that a lot of the Romanians who watched our show also knew or could understand English, so when thinking about how to reach a larger audience, English was the perfect fit. Romanian is now available as a subtitle track in the video (just click on the CC button to enable it).

Enjoy!
