Year-end progress report

I thought it’d be worthwhile to take a photo from December 2012 and put it side-by-side with a photo taken this month (December 2013).

Bodybuilding Progress 2012-2013

If you’ll remember from a previous post, I am a raw foodist. I was also slowed down for a couple of months by an ankle fracture which required two surgical interventions. And yet, this was my progress. I’m satisfied with it.

I plan to grow even more. There are certain measurements I want to reach. I am so glad I started bodybuilding again.

Here’s a triptych where I included a shot taken in March of this year.

Happy New Year!

Standard

It has been a while since we published an episode of Ligia’s Kitchen! I’m so glad we had a chance to film one this past weekend, even though we had to cut it short because Sophie needed Ligia’s attention. That by the way, is the reason we haven’t been filming new episodes. The little sweetheart needs us and we can’t dedicate a few hours to the filming of an episode.

In this new episode, you’ll learn how to make delicious, healthy, probiotic raw pickles without vinegar or preservatives. You’ll be seeing how pickled cucumbers and pickled green tomatoes get made. All of the ingredients that go into these pickles are fresh and organic and the pickling process itself involves no heat or vinegar whatsoever. The recipe is posted in the video.

Ligia’s co-host in this video is Izabela Panescu, the creator and host of a show called “Tinerete Fara Batranete” on Digi24, a Romanian TV station.

We filmed this episode in Romanian but don’t worry, I’ve provided English subtitles for you. Make sure to click on the CC button below the video to enable them.

Enjoy!

Exercise

A chest workout

Here’s one of my chest workouts, captured on video by Ligia recently. I warmed up with standing cable flyes, followed by the workout, which consisted of incline dumbbell presses, dips, machine chest presses, lying cable flies and incline dumbbell flyes.

I talked about each exercise in various detail, giving advice gleaned from my experience. At the end of the video, I extended an invitation for bodybuilding-related questions. I’ve got about nine years of intensive experience in the gym, on both animal and vegan diets, and I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t along the way. If you’ve got some questions, I may have the answers.

Till next time!

Fresh honeycomb for breakfast

Sometimes the very simple breakfasts are the best. Raw honey, scooped out of a fresh honeycomb just picked from the beehive, made by happy, healthy bees growing on pesticide-free land, slathered onto fresh-baked bread and washed down with raw almond milk. This is the ambrosia of the gods.

Enjoy!

The word “chia” probably conjures images of the “Chia Pet” in your minds, if you grew up during the 80s and 90s. Besides being a fun toy, chia seeds are incredibly nutritious and as it turns out, delicious!

In this new episode of Ligia’s Kitchen, my wife presents an original recipe of hers, which she just created: a raw vegan version of fish roe salad, or taramosalata as the Greeks call it. Being half-Greek, she’s earned the right to meddle with this traditional Mediterranean dish.

For those of you who’ve only recently subscribed to my website after I was featured in the Freshly Pressed section of WP.com (hello and thank you by the way), I should explain that I produce Ligia’s Kitchen; I also direct it, film it and edit it. That’s how I get to call myself a filmmaker. Ligia’s Kitchen is an award-winning web series which earned the title of YouTube Next Chef.

Enjoy watching this episode and do try the recipe, it’s guaranteed to be delicious!
